# What exactly is Re-Assimilation Theory? Re-Assimilation Theory is a conceptual framework designed to better organise patterns in human development, psychology, physiology, and behaviour by discussing how separate behavioural models may all be describing different expressions of the same underlying patterns. # Why was Re-Assimilation Theory developed? Re-Assimilation Theory was developed to explore a basic question: what does healthy human development ultimately move towards, and what processes lead there? It began by comparing a variety of related governing systems, then working backwards to identify recurring patterns that could explain their similarities within a single framework. I decided to pursue this project as I believed the patterns underlying human behaviour and development could and should be more accessible for both personal and organisational guidance. # What practical value does the theory provide? The project is intended to make complex patterns of human behaviour easier to recognise, compare, and apply. Its practical value lies in helping people better understand how different strengths, limitations, and developmental needs shape their personal and relational trajectories, while giving organisations a common language for better understanding roles, meaningful growth, and collective interdependence. # Is the theory claiming that all human processing only occurs through binary Mental vs Physical behaviour? The main idea proposed in this project is that conscious behaviour appears to move broadly through two processing directions: information that is processed internally and information that is engaged with directly. Think of this as Input vs Output, Absorption vs Reaction etc. I have chosen to label these directions as **Mental** and **Physical** as they are more intuitive to understand and visualise in comparison. So while **Mental** and **Physical** do broadly relate to mind and body, they are primarily being used as simplified processing terms, as internal processing appears to primarily occur through the mind, and outward processing appears to generally require physical feedback. # Is the theory claiming that there are exactly Eight Layers for human development? Not necessarily. This project theorises that human development appears to move across a continuous spectrum of increasingly Mental and Physical processing directions. The layers divide this spectrum into eight recursively generated Mental/Physical divisions as it is large enough to show differences without becoming overwhelming. However as the development cycle is a spectrum, you could divide it into as many levels as you would like, or choose to only focus on certain segments. # How were the processing channels chosen? Channels were chosen based on their ability to express the recurring developmental patterns observed across systems. The channels that were best able to express the pattern across each of the domains remained, while systems were excluded when existing systems already represented their findings more comprehensively, or when the theories foundational structure appeared to account for their observations with greater explanatory power. Additionally many well documented systems are not included in this project, simply because they are more focused towards highly specific domains, whereas Re-Assimilation is currently concerned with understanding and organising broader, more foundational patterns of human function. # Is the theory claiming that each of the processing channels map one to one with each other exactly? I am proposing that the processing channels selected appear to each be describing similar patterns that originate from the same underlying focal points along the human development spectrum. However because each channel was developed independently, often by different people, cultures, or organisations, the specifics of definitions naturally have some variation and can slightly branch into areas that other systems may not. # What is established research and what is the projects own theory? The theory involves a combination of established concepts, disputed models and original theoretical mappings. Each source channel retains its own variable level of scientific support, which using the projects theory, have been expanded on in increasing levels of theoretical depth and complexity where noted. The proposed relationships between these systems, the eight layer structure, and the broader Mental/Physical framework are all original hypotheses of the project. # Why should these similarities be interpreted as evidence of a shared underlying structure rather than coincidence? While the similarities proposed should not automatically be treated as proof of a shared underlying structure, the more consistently these relationships recur across distinct domains, and the more accurately the same underlying framework can account for them without requiring separate explanations, the less likely coincidence becomes concrete as a complete explanation. All findings will continuously be developed and updated through community feedback, testing and discussion, which considering the unconventional nature and scope of the project, will undoubtedly be needed. [[Typology (Advanced)|« Back]]
