This page combines each of the six processing channels third level of division into a single overview, in order to better highlight and organise the relationship between different types and each of the layers of ability.

What we find is that the six processing channels are not separate systems, but are in fact six mediums that each appear to be expressing the same eight behavioural processes across our mind, body and environment.

Remember, Nature does not affect other forms of Nature. If you are a Heterosexual Cis Female it does not mean that you will be dominant in Ni. And while Nature can influence Nurture, it does not determine it. So while someone dominant in Ni may be more likely to develop a Type 4 Enneagram imbalance, it is far from guaranteed.

We can see this most clearly by combining the third level descriptions from each of the six processing channels and comparing how they align across each of the eight layers.

Cisgender male types appear to represent Physical/Physical forms of processing, where physical reality is met through direct response. They can be drawn towards what is happening in front of them, what can be acted on, and how conditions can be changed through movement, force, skill, or practical action. This can appear as a strong focus on immediate reality, bodily capability, environmental awareness, physical challenge, and direct problem solving. They may naturally process life through doing, testing, building, protecting, adapting, and responding to what directly exists.

An imbalance in External Sensing (Se) can produce a fear of being powerless, weak, or physically vulnerable. This may arise from environments that felt dangerous, where safety appeared to depend on strength, control, or neutralising potential threats before they could cause harm. They may respond by becoming forceful and self reliant, fiercely protecting themselves and others while resisting any attempts to forcibly control them. Through this pattern, they can develop courage, resilience, directness, and the capacity to remain strong during difficult situations. Their growth lies in embracing gentleness and compassion, and recognising that vulnerability does not diminish their strength.

When Internal Sensing (Si) becomes imbalanced, it can create a fear of lacking support, guidance, or security. This can develop from early environments that felt inconsistent, unreliable, or unsafe, where stability had to be searched for rather than naturally trusted. To cope with this, these types may become vigilant, cautious, and highly attentive to risk or danger, seeking safety through preparation, community, structure, and dependable systems. In doing so, they can develop loyalty, foresight, grounded awareness, and the ability to protect themselves and others from future instability. For them, growth can involve strengthening inner steadiness, trusting their own judgement, and building the confidence to face uncertainty without needing complete reassurance.

When External Thinking (Te) becomes imbalanced, there is often a fear of failure, worthlessness, or being seen as incapable. This can develop from early environments where self worth felt tied to achievement, competence, approval, or external image. To cope with this, this type may push themselves with the need to become successful, useful, respected or effective in the outer world, using goals, productivity, and visible results in order to maintain a sense of value. Through this, they can develop drive, confidence, leadership, and the ability to turn ambition into practical action. Growth for these types can come from prioritising inner authenticity over external success, and recognising that they are already valuable without needing to prove themselves through accomplishment.

If there is one thing I hope you take from this project, it is that human behaviour is rarely random.
While certain branches of the project may be incomplete or simplifications of more complex systems, the correlation between different process of human behaviour become increasingly difficult to dismiss when viewed together. By better recognising and understanding each of these unique tendencies not only can we be more receptive, understanding and capable towards our own behaviour, but also towards those around us.
