Layer 5 shifts this focus by recognising others as equally complex beings, with their own needs, experiences, and right to exist. It is also the first layer that understands that we are all shaped differently depending on the environment we grew up in (nurture), which uniquely influences our skills, beliefs, values and cultural identity. Yet despite these differences, we all share the same human goals and desires. If we had grown up in someone else's environment we would likely see the world in a similar way to them. While viewing others as competition may seem necessary in earlier layers when personal survival is still uncertain, Layer 5 recognises that the more we share resources, knowledge, support and compassion, the more stable, capable, and sustainable all of our lives become. --- # When level 5 is imbalanced
Either neglected, or relationships are treated as means for control rather than mutual harmony.
**Individually:** - Other people are increasingly viewed through lenses of self interest, fear, or agreement, creating narrower relationships, social distance, and reduced mutual support. **Societally:** - Groups become divided by competing interests and opposing views, while leaders grow disconnected from the people they represent failing to understand or respond to their needs. ---
Layer 5 Processing Behaviour = [Mental/Physical/Physical] Identifies reality through conceptual association [M], processes it through immediate interaction [P], and responds outwardly through physical action or adjustment [P].
[[2.5 Layer 4 - Optimisation (PMM)|« Back]] [[2.7 Layer 6 - Alignment (MPM)|Next »]]
