Layer 1 focuses on recognising and responding to the immediate physical conditions of the body.
</div>
Layer 1 is the first stage in the development cycle, focused on the most fundamental human need: keeping the body alive, responsive, and capable of action. This layer develops through attunement to the five physical senses, taste, smell, touch, sight, and hearing, allowing the body to coordinate movement, regulate activation, and respond to changes in safety, discomfort, or physical demand.
This layer forms the foundation for sensing, movement, responsiveness, and survival that all higher layers of ability rely on and build upon.

Either neglected, or bodily senses are geared towards unstable impulsivity rather than controlled release.
</div>
**Individually:**
- The body lacks the energy, awareness, or regulation required to meet its immediate physical needs, leading to fatigue, reduced endurance, bodily neglect, and slower physical recovery.
**Societally:**
- Physical health and basic bodily needs become widely neglected, while sensory excess, impulsive consumption, and reactive behaviour become increasingly normalised.
